Structural Forms of the Feminine Psyche

This link is primarily for women, but as a man I also find it very interesting. Toni Wolff was Jung’s lover and collaborator. The 4 elements of the Medicine Wheel – Air, Water, Fire and Earth – correspond closely to Jung’s typology of Thinking, Feeling, Intuition and Sensation respectively. Toni Wolff created a typology which she considered specifically descriptive of the feminine psyche. These 4 types are: Amazon, Medial (guide to the Unconscious), Maternal and Hetaira (whose love of the Other promotes their growth). Women are expected to be Amazons these days, even though that will only ever suit only a minority. This scheme validates other possibilities for women, and I think deserves more currency.
